Biography
Professor Tasan earned his BS and MS in metallurgical and materials engineering at METU, Middle East Technical University, in Ankara, Turkey. He carried out his PhD work on micromechanics of ductile damage at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, graduating in 2010. He then moved to Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung in Germany, where he was appointed as a postdoc, and then as a group leader, leading the Adaptive Structural Materials group. He joined DMSE at MIT as faculty member in 2016.
