October 9 is National Nanotechnology Day—the day that celebrates the potency of the world at the scale of one nanometer, 10-9 or one billionth of a meter.
Every year, we celebrate 10/9 to shine a light on the potential of nanoscale discoveries and innovations to help solve some of the biggest challenges facing society today. This year, we have another reason to cheer—the fifth anniversary of MIT.nano.
MIT.nano celebrated its grand opening in October 2018. Since then, we have installed and made accessible over 160 tools and instruments to our user community that has grown to over 1,200 active researchers. With more than 300 principal investigator (PI) labs represented, MIT.nano's users come from nearly every department at MIT. We are also supporting the work of researchers from our industry partners, colleagues from other academic institutions, and over 130 startup and multinational companies.
MIT.nano is more than a pristine environment outfitted with the latest tools and instruments needed to explore and build at the nanoscale. It is also a robust and vivid community brought together through seminars, conferences, socials, and workshops. Researchers of MIT.nano inspire each other, accelerating the launches of solutions that are bound to build a better world.
In celebration of five years of serving our community, MIT.nano is releasing five videos for Nano Day 2023. The videos showcase our three main facilities—Characterization, Fab, and Immersion Lab—look back at where we started in 2018, and celebrate the MIT.nano community of 2023.
