ABSTRACT

Imagine exercising with a clear understanding of which muscles are working. This is especially important for scoliosis rehabilitation, where targeted exercises are key to effective treatment. Scoliosis, characterized by abnormal spinal curvature, affects millions of people worldwide and often demands specialized care.

Wu's research focuses on a system that combines surface electromyography (sEMG) with motion capture technology to make scoliosis-specific exercises more accurate and engaging. By monitoring muscle activity and providing real-time visual feedback through an avatar, participants can adjust their posture on the spot during exercises. This approach not only helps ensure exercises are done correctly, but also makes the process more engaging, offering a promising new direction for scoliosis rehabilitation.
